3 things to consider when selecting a wedding venue

January 7, 2020

Finding the right wedding venue takes a lot of time and research. It can often be one of the hardest parts of planning a wedding, but it’s also critically important! Your venue sets the tone of your entire wedding. Plus its availability is likely to determine your actual wedding date, and THAT’S when you can start booking other vendors. So, here are 3 things to consider when selecting a wedding venue to make sure that it ticks all the right boxes before you make a final decision!

Since your venue will influence your budget as well as the atmosphere on the day, consider these 3 important things before you sign on the dotted line!

  1. Venue size. Consider how many people you’re planning to invite vs the number of people the venue can comfortably cater. A crowded reception can be quite uncomfortable, but if the venue is too large, it will make the reception feel empty. Put an initial guest list together before you even start venue shopping so that you know what you need.
  2. What about the drinks? Alcohol and drinks are probably a big part of your wedding, so it’s important to find out whether you can bring your own alcohol. Consider whether you can purchase the drinks yourself or whether you’ll have to buy them from the venue. Since you will also need a licensed bartender to serve alcohol, find out whether the venue can provide one! Then you can factor those costs into your final budget and cross one more thing off the list!
  3. Preferred vendors. As you may have figured out by now, you need a whole bunch of vendors to pull off your wedding day. Many venues require you to use their vendors, so make sure to find out about this before you make a booking. If they do work with specific vendors, make sure that you’re happy with their experience, style, personality, and pricing. When a venue works with preferred vendors, it probably means that they’re confident in their experience and ability to deliver. However, it’s most important for you to choose vendors that fit in with your budget and overall preferences.

In the end, you need to make sure that your venue speaks to your personalities and style as a couple. As you search, just remember these 3 things to consider when selecting a wedding venue. You’re sure to choose something absolutely perfect<3
